句型：「只有...當」英文有以下翻譯
1. S1 + (助動詞) only + VR1 when S2 + V2
2. Only when S2 + V2 + 助動詞 S1 + VR1 (倒裝句)
(注意 only 放句首時 接出來的句子要倒裝 --> 也就是 助動詞 + S)
其他常見需要倒裝的情況為：
否定字放句首：never, not, hardly, seldom, barely, rarely, not only, neither, little
by no means, in no way, under no circumstances, not until
疑問句
簡短回答：so do I, neither do I...
假設句省略 if 的情況：Were I a bird, ... Had I been there..., Should it rain tomorrow...
假設題目為：
只有在他們準備好的時候才會想要生第一個孩子。
就可以寫成
They only want to have their first child when they are ready.
They want to have their first child only when they are ready.
或倒裝寫法
Only when they are ready do they want to have their first child.
假設題目為：
只有當人們失去健康才了解其重要性。
就可以寫成
People will only understand the importance of health when they lose it.
People will understand the importance of health only when they lose it.
或倒裝寫法
Only when people lose health will they understand the importance of it.
假設題目為：
只有當人們沒有遵守規矩才會被罰錢。
就可以寫成
People are only fined when they break the rule.
People are fined only when they break the rule.
或倒裝寫法
Only when people break the rule are they fined.
大考模考題：
Only when we have ambition _________ spur ourselves to move on and try hard to achieve our goals.
選項
(A) we (B) will we (C) we will (D) we can
因為是 only when 放句首的情況，因此後面的句子要寫倒裝，答案就是 B will we
大考模考題：
Only when people commit the most serious crimes ________ to prison where they serve short sentences averaging six months.
選項
(A) they are sent (B) do they send (C) are they sent (D) they send
一樣是 only when 放句首的情況，因此後面的句子要寫倒裝，又因為是被動式
答案是 C are they sent
