 最近再做一系列的英文小教室，每天都會po文，還沒追蹤粉絲團的趕快追蹤唷 

電影裡的 Carrie Pilby 是一位天資聰穎的資優生，年紀輕輕十八歲時便比同齡提早三年從哈佛大學畢業

也許因為自己的智商的關係，總是顯得與周圍的人與環境格格不入

甚至因為高標準的道德觀念而顯得憤世忌俗！直到被父親逼著去看心理醫生

被要求試著完成「幸福清單」上的每件任務。隨著一項項的代辦事項被劃掉

她漸漸發現這個世界比自己想像的還要有趣，也出現了不少內心的掙扎～

這部片其實也蠻建議有心理問題的人來看看，畢竟一但看待世界的角度不一樣了

也許心情就也不同了，電影有大量的鋪敘跟連貫，這也是需要仔細品味的地方。

（然後聰明的人好像真的比較容易不開心是真的，前陣子看得天才的禮物 Gifted 也有提到類似問題）

最後一幕的 Carrie 對著鏡頭微笑的樣子，是因為男生問起他的 middle name 

（一直覺得女主角好眼熟，可是又忘記在哪邊看過）

一起來學電影中的英文筆記 

   Shocker (n.) 令人震驚或不愉快的事物

英英： something that is likely to offend, especially something new or recently announced

 Knock yourself out (idiom) 請自便

英英： Feel free (to do something); go ahead; do something for as long and as much as you like.

字面上也有敲自己投的意思，不過很常用來表示「自便！」的意思

電影裡頭的對話也很有趣

Carrie: I just wanted to know if I can borrow this chair.

Oh, definitely. Yes. Take it.

Knock yourself out!

Not with the chair 有點雙關的意思 

 Consolation prize  (n.) 安慰獎

英英： a small prize given to someone who has taken part in a competition, but who has not won

例句： Winning a consolation prize is nothing to be ashamed of. 

 Put yourself out there (phr.) 盡力幫助別人

英英： to make an effort to do something to help someone, even if it is not convenient

例句： Ethan is always willing to put himself out for other people.

 Fit in (v.) 適應

英英： to feel that you belong to a particular group and are accepted by that group

電影台詞： Why should I force myself to go out and meet people who have lowered their moral, ethical,

and intellectual standards in order to fit in with other people?

 Photographic memory (n.) 過目不忘的記憶力

英英： If you have a photographic memory, you are able to remember things in exact detail.

例句： He dribbled the ball and then shot.

Photographic 就是攝影般的

 I didn’t mean anything by it (phr.) 我不是這個意思

類似用法  Don't get me wrong!

記得介系詞要使用 by喔

在問別人「什麼意思」的時候，英文是說 What do you mean by this?

What do you mean by + 不懂的東西

 Two birds with one stone (idiom) 一石二鳥

英英： to succeed in achieving two things in a single action

這句剛好中英文都是一樣的意思

 It's my thing (phr.) 擅長的事情

這邊的 thing 就是指專長、擅長或是喜歡做的事

反義詞就是  not one's thing

例句： Shopping is not my thing. I prefer to read.

 Get lost (phr.) 滾！

雖然還有另一個意思就是「迷路」

不過如果語氣比較不客氣的時候就是叫你「滾」

 Skip a grade (v.) 跳級

反義詞是  stay on track

如果是 skip the class 則是翹課

 Sth pop in your mind (phr.) 靈光乍現; 突然想到

類似用法還有  It occurs to me that + S + V

sth 可放 idea, thought

 listen in on sth/sb (v.) 偷聽

英英： If you listen in on a conversation or on someone talking, you listen, especially secretly, without saying anything.

例句： I wish Dad would stop listening in on my phone conversations.

 No chemistry (phr.) 男女間沒有火花; 不來電

英英： a quality that exists when two people understand and are attracted to each other

例句： The sexual chemistry between them was obvious.
