上一篇學到了如何分辨英文的「形容詞」「副詞」

今天來看那些 ly 結尾卻是「形容詞」的單字 

還沒看過上篇文章的 點這邊  如何三秒解題，使用形容詞 (Adjective) 與副詞 (Adverb)？

1. deadly 致命的

例如：Doctors fear possible epidemics of African swine fever, which is a deadly disease.

These missiles are capable of swatting enemy planes with deadly accuracy.

2. friendly 友好的 / unfriendly 不親切的

例如：Our neighbours have always been very friendly to/towards us.

She has a rather cold, unfriendly manner.

3. lonely 孤獨的

例如：She gets lonely now that all the kids have left home.

4. lovely 可愛的

例如：We had a lovely time with them.

5. lively 活潑的; 熱烈的

例如：There was some lively discussion at the meeting.

Amsterdam is a lively city.

6. silly 愚蠢的

例如：It was silly of you to go out in the sun without a hat.

7. ugly 醜陋的

例如：He was a really unpleasant man and as ugly as sin (= very ugly).

8. costly 昂貴的; 值錢的; 代價昂貴的

例如：The project was subject to several costly delays/setbacks.

Building this bridge has already been too costly in terms of lives (= people have been killed while working on it).

9. likely 可能的 / unlikely 不可能的

例如：Do remind me because I'm likely to forget.

It's quite likely that we'll be in Spain this time next year.

10. brotherly 兄弟般的；友好的

例如：Can I give you some brotherly advice?
